KITE DRESS | LILY PADS
Designed and made in Kyneton by Leanne Coates
A fabulously versatile dress that can be worn independently or as a pinafore. Tie points both inside and out can be used to create multiple looks with this dress. It also looks great as part of a layered wardrobe look with a wide like pant, rolled skinny jeans or footless tights. Scoop neck, bias finish to arm and neck and a below knee asymmetrical hem fall.
Hand finished artisanal details of imagined lily pads on the surface of water across the back of the dress contrasted with red stitching bring this version of my kite dress to a truly unique and original level. I am delighted with the outcome of this design and had great joy working with the production assistance of Nina and Leah on this piece.
A stunning mid-weight Japanese cotton ombre screen printed by textile designer Jennifer Sampou to replicate the gradient tones of the night sky. I have adapted the colour scheme and reimagined it as a body of water, from the dark and quiet bottom to the sunlight tickled surface. Remnants of Enshuku cotton from a past collection have been cut and appliqued to appear as abstract lily pads floating on the surface with red threads.
Cold to warm hand wash. Light spin. Do not soak, rub or tumble dry. Hang to dry.
Warm - hot iron using a pressing cloth to flatten the applique.
True to Australian sizing standards with each dress size covering a range.
